Some people argue that parents shouldn’t leave their kids anything, suggesting it’s better to teach them to earn everything on their own. But is that truly the best approach?

It’s a mindset I hear often—spend every dollar and leave nothing behind. To me, though, this way of thinking reflects doubt in our ability to teach the next generation how to take on greater responsibility.

Imagine shifting the focus. Instead of holding back resources, we could prepare our kids to handle more than we ever did—giving them both an inheritance and the skills to manage it effectively.

What do you think? Should we focus solely on teaching independence, or can we aim to leave both a legacy and the tools to manage it well?
