I've been remote with my team for a couple years.
We just bought an office building and we're gutting the whole thing to move everyone in. Not because remote doesn't work.
Because three things matter more than convenience.
One, separation. When I'm home I want to be home.
When I'm working I want to be working.
Two teams don't exist.
The Chiefs don't practice remote. There's something that happens when you're in a room with your people, building toward the same thing.
Three, care. It's hard to make someone feel valued through a screen. A physical space lets you build a culture people actually feel.
I'm not saying remote is wrong. I'm saying I chose this on purpose.
